Silverpoint Drawing, detail
green-gray prepared paper

This detail of an 10″ x 8″ portrait of George Washington shows the layering of fine lines used to create tones. Silverpoint is a drawing made with a silver stylus on a specially coated surface. With time the silver lines tarnish to a metallic sepia tone. (I’ll show the complete portrait in my next post.)

See the original drawing at Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery in historic Washington Crossing, PA. The silverpoint is mounted in a frame that I designed specifically for this drawing.

Please contact the gallery or email me if you are interested in this drawing.
