This beak-like pod is fascinating to me. My compositions usually feature Nature’s wonderful offerings: seedpods, skulls, shells, beach stones…usually with a touch of the human, which is often a perfect glass sphere.
To the buyer: This painting has finished, beveled edges - a table-top easel will be provided.

Silverpoint Drawing
10×8″ green-gray prepared paper
This is the complete portrait of George Washington; see “George’s Eye” detail of previous post. I prepared the paper with a green-gray tone and heightened the drawing in white. The drawing is made with a silver wire; with time the lines will tarnish to a metallic sepia tone. To see my silverpoint box with tools, please visit my website.
The original drawing is now being exhibited at Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery in historic Washington Crossing, PA. Please contact the gallery, or email me, if you are interested in this work.

Silverpoint Drawing, detail
green-gray prepared paper
This detail of an 10″ x 8″ portrait of George Washington shows the layering of fine lines used to create tones. Silverpoint is a drawing made with a silver stylus on a specially coated surface. With time the silver lines tarnish to a metallic sepia tone. (I’ll show the complete portrait in my next post.)
See the original drawing at Canal Frame-Crafts Gallery in historic Washington Crossing, PA. The silverpoint is mounted in a frame that I designed specifically for this drawing.
Please contact the gallery or email me if you are interested in this drawing.
Here’s another version of the previous post “Out” - this was done a few years back.
This painting is no longer available. But, as you may know from viewing my posts on The Art Fly this painting is a small part of a larger series called Meditations. By the way, that is the same beach stone in both renderings.
Please email me if you are interested in something similar.

Silverpoint Drawing
5×7″ gray-blue prepared paper
Before the graphite pencil there was silverpoint: a silver stylus is used to draw on a specially coated surface. This drawing medium was used extensively during the Renaissance era, though some of the earliest drawings date to the 12th century. With time the silver lines tarnish to a metallic sepia tone. Metalpoint refers to a drawing made with any metal, including silver.
I prepared the paper with a gray-blue tone and heightened the drawing with white charcoal.
This is a recurring composition for me - glass spheres and pitted beach stones; part of the Meditations series. I have an infinite number of similar works waiting to be born!
To the buyer: The drawing will be matted and wrapped in clear acetate. A Silverpoint Description card will be attached.

Oil Painting
2.75×6.75″ bevel-edge panel
“Balance, No. 2″ is part of a series of still life work that I’ve been expanding since the late 1990s. To see more in this Meditations series, please visit my website.
This is painted on a 1/2″ thick panel with finished beveled edges - no frame needed. It can be simply wall-mounted or set on a table-top easel.
